We first became aware of the inadequacy of most “mainstream” dog foods when our dog Bubba, a Bichon Frise, developed food allergies and our dog Blue, a 'blue' Border Terrier, experienced constant digestive distress.  Their problems disappeared after we changed them to natural, grain-free food.  Bubba was almost 18 years old when he passed away and we attribute his longevity to the improvement in his health following his change of diet.  Lilly, our adopted Schnauzer, recently joined our family. She and Blue eat grain-free, gluten-free food with the addition of vegetables like green beans and pumpkin they both enjoy.  Our dogs’ positive experience with holistic, natural dog food led us to begin this online business.

Once we decided to open an online pet store selling natural food, it followed that other products we offer should also be natural; i.e., “green” or eco-friendly, to the extent possible.  Thus, our name became “eco-dogs.com” and our slogan “leaving smaller carbon paw prints^(tm).”  We scoured the internet to find eco-friendly pet products made from natural, organic fibers or recycled material and continue to do so in order to offer merchandise that is healthy for both our pets and our planet. 

Although our name is eco-dogs, we are aware that many of our friends have both dogs and cats.  In order to save you the trouble of ordering from two separate sites, we also offer a full line of cat food and cat products.

eco-dogs.com also sells certain products not necessarily considered "green" but offers them to ensure the safety and well-being of your animal companions.  These include items like pet gates, dog crates, pet travel accessories, pet strollers, dog identification tags, and some collars and leashes, as well as some products we consider just too cool not to pass along to you.
